As Penn State continues to evolve as an institution we find ourselves in an environment that is constantly changing. We have arrived at a point where those leading and managing change need to leverage specific skillsets while remaining agile to facilitate sustainable change efforts in a fast-paced and complex ecosystem.

Our group of experienced change consultants manage, support and consult on large institutional-wide transformational changes. With a collection of diverse backgrounds, advanced degrees, and professional certifications each member of our team supports the advancement of the University’s strategic plan.

Change Management Tips for Individuals to Help Manage Change (15 minutes) – In this quick course from change management expert Dr. Eric Zackrison, learn how to go with the flow and wield organizational change to your advantage. Gain strategies for how to adapt quickly, tips on what is and isn’t in your control, and advice for how to show your bosses that you are a can-do, make-it-happen team player.

Preparing Yourself for Change (28 minutes) – In this course, business psychologist Erin Shrimpton provides you with tools to help you not only survive changes in your work life, but thrive in uncertain times.

Managing Stress for Positive Change (53 minutes) – In this course, instructor Heidi Hanna, PhD, discusses what exactly stress is, how you can train yourself to use stress in more effective ways, and what managers can do to reduce stress when an organization experiences difficult times. She covers how individuals can use stress for good by assessing and adjusting it, as well as what you, as a manager, can do to create an environment and communication style that helps connect employees to the bigger picture.

Change Management for Projects (1 hour, 16 min) – In this course, instructor Claudine Peet discusses the importance of planning change management activities for a project and shares tips and techniques that can help you confidently approach the people side of project management. Claudine goes over change management roles and activities in the project management lifecycle, as well as techniques for grappling with the effects of change on individuals.

Leading Through Organizational Change (17 minutes) – Change doesn’t have to be scary!

Change Management Tips for Leaders (16 minutes) – In this quick course from change management expert Dr. Eric Zackrison, you’ll learn the five best practices for how to guide your teams and organizations through change.

Leading Your Team Through Change (21 minutes) – In this course, Mike Derezin highlights frameworks and strategies he employed as a VP at LinkedIn for guiding teams through actionable change. Throughout the course, Mike shares insights gleaned from his own years in leadership, including how to address active resisters (and manage passive ones), take pulse checks, and hold people accountable for making change happen.

Leading Change (1 hour, 12 minutes) – In this course, leaders can learn the larger context for change and their roles in making it happen. Coach Gary Bolles helps you develop a change mindset, acquire the right skills, and help individuals and teams across your organization embrace and enact change. Plus, learn how to make a lasting impact by leading large-scale transformations that help solve the problems of today and tomorrow.

Implementing Change Effectively (58 minutes) – In this course, Dr. Eric Zackrison teaches you how to successfully navigate change in your organization. He covers the various sources and factors that necessitate change, and how understanding the type of change you’re experiencing is key to managing it. Eric also explains the importance of keeping stakeholders in the loop early and often, the perils of making changes just for the sake of making changes, and how to overcome other people’s negative reactions to change.

Change Leadership (37 minutes) – Leaders don’t always get to plan for change. More than ever, change is suddenly thrust upon businesses, forcing managers and executives to quickly acclimate and lead decisively. This course was designed to meet these leaders where they are. Instructor Scott Mautz covers what it takes to lead brilliantly during uncertain times. Scott shares what to focus on to produce the biggest impact, as well as how to establish a sense of control while doing so.
